Blog Posts for Dundee

Dundee is Scotland's fourth largest city which has a population of over 145,000 and borders the North Sea to the east and the Firth of Tay to the south.

Dundee is notable for its history as one of Scotland's major industrial cities, which was primarily based around textile manufacturing but grew rapidly in the 19th century through jute manufacturing becoming the world centre for this type of industry.

Today it is recognised as being home to many creative industries including design disciplines such as fashion and textiles; video game development at companies like Rockstar North; entrepreneurs developing new technology solutions for business problems using digital technologies or physical products through 3D printing or additive manufacture processes; pharmacists researching new drug therapies; and a wide variety of food and drink businesses.

The city has a diverse cultural life with a large number of museums and art galleries including the excellent Verdant Works Museum which charts the city's industrial heritage. The city is also home to two universities - the University of Dundee and Abertay University - which between them employ over 3,000 people and this supports a diverse and creative community of students and academics.
